Haunui Farm shuttle stallion Ribchester was credited with his seventh individual winner this week when Shaikha (Ribchester x Kerila (Makfi)) won on debut at Deauville on Thursday.
Shaikha impressed when jumping smartly and tracked the pace in second through the early stages of the race. At the half-way mark she made her move and finished strongly to win by three lengths.
Four-time G1 winner and two-time European Champion Miler Ribchester has made a strong start to his career in the northern hemisphere and his six winners to date include four on debut.
A late Summer/early Autumn two-year-old himself, Ribchester started three times in his juvenile season finishing second on debut, runner-up in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes before landing the G2 Mill Reef Stakes to end his two-year-old season.
Ribchester's oldest southern hemisphere crop has just turned two and his yearlings have sold well both domestically and further afield.
He was the first season sire with the highest priced yearling in Europe in 2020 and backed this up earlier this year with a £590,000 filly at the Arqana 2YO sale. His yearlings at Karaka 2021 sold for $230,000 and $130,000. Ribchester stood his first two southern hemisphere seasons in Australia (2018/2019) and as such has a majority of his first two Australasian crops based across the Tasman.
Ribchester returns to Haunui Farm in early August and will stand at a fee of $15,000 + GST.
