Dear Breeders,
Just a friendly reminder that the 2020 return/annual registration for your broodmare is due by 28 February 2021. A broodmare needs to be registered annually in the New Zealand Stud Book so that her foals are eligible for racing and breeding.
Owners are responsible for registering their mare as a broodmare after she is covered for the first time and for maintaining her registration in the Stud Book until she is retired from breeding or is sold or leased out. Owners must lodge a return every season even if the mare does not produce a live foal or isn’t covered.
You can complete the return either:
· Over the Telephone
Call (04) 576-6240 and choose Option 3 to speak to someone from the Stud Book (Monday – Friday from 9.00am until 5pm).
· On-Line via Breeders Service Centre (BSC)
If you have used the BSC in the past your log-in and password is still valid. If you have forgotten your password, or would like to register for this option, email studbook@nztr.co.nz with your name and the name of the mare, and we will send you codes to access this secure part of our website. Please note, only credit/debit card or payments via POLipay portal are accepted online.
You’ll need to provide the result of the 2019 service (date of birth, colour and gender for a live foal), and the name of the 2020 covering stallion (the stallion owner will confirm service dates). For breeders completing the returns online, foaling and service information already in the BSC can be edited at anytime before payment is made. Edit buttons are located under Summary of Pending Returns and in the Payments tab.
The following fees apply:
$75.00 – annual entry fee per mare
$120.00– DNA laboratory fee for a live foal
$75.00 – initial entry for a 2020 maiden mare (new mare registration)
There is a 10% prompt payment discount for fees paid with a card (at the time of lodging the return) or POLipay by 28 February 2021.
