The Minister for Racing, Hon David Bennett, has today announced the appointment of a new Independent Member to the Board of the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB), Bill Birnie. Minister Bennett's media release is included below.
Bill joins the Board effective from today for a three year term. Bill has extensive board and senior executive experience, having been a member and trustee of a number of boards and charitable trusts, as well as working as both an investment banker and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
Bill replaces outgoing Board member, Barry Brown, following the conclusion of his tenure. On behalf of the Board and everyone at NZRB and across the industry, I would like to sincerely thank Barry for his service and contribution over the past three years. Barry's been a dedicated member of the Board, and has worked diligently to support NZRB and the wider racing industry as we build a sustainable future for racing in New Zealand.
I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Bill, and thanking Barry and wishing him all the very best for the future. Glenda Hughes, NZRB
