That's the agistment property of breeders Terry and Vicki Pascoe, breeders and part-owners with their trainer Terry Wenn, of today's splendid ARC Jaguar Easter Handicap G1 winner Honor Bound (4m Honor Grades-Amrica by Amalgam).
It was the mare's sixth win in 19 starts and took her earnings to around $250,000 - an amount still some way short of the money her owners have at various times turned down for her.
But Honor Bound is much more than an income-earning asset for the Pascoes.
She was special from the day her then 19-year-old dam foaled her.
Amrica hasn't had another live foal since then but, now rising 24, she is safely in foal to Ashwell Farm's handsome Royal Ascot Group 2 winner Kingfisher Mill.
Amrica was worth persevering with. She won six races, three at two, including the Wellington S. G3 and Manawatu Thoroughbred Breeders' S. G3. She was also second in the New Zealand Oaks G1. Her first foal, Greenback (McGinty) was a Group 2-winning juvenile and won nine races in all, among them a Tattersall's Cup G2 in Queensland.
Amrica's subsequently chequered breeding career has produced only seven live foals in 16 years, three of them winners: World Mission (1989 f. by McGinty), Agena (1994 f. by Honor Grades) and Honor Bound.
Honor Bound also has the distinction of being Honor Grades' first Group One winner from the southern hemisphere crops conceived during the five seasons, 1993-97, he shuttled to Haunui Farm, Auckland from the United States.
Spectacularly well-bred, by Danzig from Weekend Surprise, and therefore a three-quarter brother to Summer Squall, and half-brother to A.P. Indy, Honor Grades has so far been more successful in the north than the south. Ten of his 17 stakeswinners to date were bred in the United States, including dual Grade One winner Honor Glide.
His seven southern hemisphere-bred SW are: G1 Honor Bound, G2 Matriculate, G3 Bexley, G3 The Book Maker, G3 Simigan, SW Command Post and US stakeswinner Connate (Plus). Honor Grades has also been represented by a number of Group-placed performers in New Zealand and Australia including Star of Honor, Pheroz Honor, Harvard Honor, Creme de Honor, Honourable Mention, Desert Rain and five times Group One-placed Ebony Honor who was a good fourth in today's AJC The Chairman's Quality Handicap G3, and will probably start in next Saturday's AJC Sydney Cup G1.
Honor Grades stands at Darby Dan Farm, Kentucky at a 2002 fee of $US15,000.
