Karaka-based stallion station Stoney Bridge has set the 2006 service fee for their promising young sire Postponed at $8500 (plus GST), a $3,000 increase on his 2005 fee.
The Grade 2-winning son of Summer Squall has made an excellent start to his stud career with his first crop of 2yos including the Matamata Breeders' Stakes G2 winner Naturo and Ellerslie 2yo winner Ifionlyhadtime.
To date Postponed's six progeny to race in New Zealand and Australia have all won or placed and have collectively returned cheques in 13 of their 17 starts. Postponed, who currently lies third on the NZ First Crop Sire Premiership, began his stud career at Masey and David Benjamin's Fayette Park Stud. He relocated last year to Stoney Bridge where he covered 84 mares.
Postponed was the Leading Second Crop Sire (by average price) at this year's New Zealand Select Sale with a $50,167 average.
Stoney Bridge will be announcing two new stallions for their recently acquired Stoney Bridge Waikato property at Matamata in the near future.
