New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) is currently seeking industry comment and feedback to develop a Code of Practice for Bloodstock Sales in New Zealand. NZTR has distributed a copy of the Australian Racing Board's draft Code of Practice as a possible blue-print in the development of what is hoped will become an accepted code in both Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian Code of Practice sets out principles that apply to sales of bloodstock and sales of stallion shares and nominations, whether private sales or sales at public auction. The purpose of the Code is to achieve high standards of integrity and transparency in order to safeguard the interests of vendors, consigners, bloodstock agents, owners, trainers and sales companies.
The NZTBA Council is currently asking branch committees and members to provide their comments and reactions to the Australian draft to assist in the preparation and approval of a New Zealand equivalent.
The Australian Racing Board's draft Code is available here (in PDF format) or you can request a hard copy from the National Office, ph 09 525 2428.
Please email your response by Monday 7th May 2007; or post it to NZTBA, Private Bag 99908, Newmarket, Auckland, or fax to 09 525 2428.
