The NZTBA Hawkes Bay /Poverty Bay Branch has several events being held over the next two months.
All are open to everyone with an interest in Breeding and Racing.
Firstly, on Sunday 29th June we will be holding our annual Weanling parade which will take in four properties and at this stage some 27/30 weanlings.
The Parade will commence at Guy Lowry's property in Kawera Road at 9.30am followed by those at Lime Country Thoroughbreds which is up the main entry to Okawa Stud around 10/10.15 am. Jo and Greg will also parade their stallion Niagara. It is envisaged that the time spent here will be ¾ to one hour.
The next stop will be at Sasanof in Longlands Road then on to 306 St Georges Road, the property of Gerard Moughan.
Weanlings which will be on view are by Mastercraftsman, Nadeem, Darci Brahma, Savabeel, Showcasing, Redwood, Iffraaj, Keeper, Pentire, Jimmy Choux, Red Giant, Myboycharlie, Shocking, Per Incanto, Fully Fledged, Uncle Mo.
At the completion of the parade lunch will be available at "Off the Track" restaurant at a cost of $35.
As this is normally a very popular event reservations should made to Isabell Roddick 8798662. or by return e-mail.
Friday evening 29th August the annual Hawke's Bay Racing and Breeding Awards will be held in the Cheval Room, Hawke's Bay Racing Centre.
So that no eligible owner or breeder is inadvertently missed, if anyone knows of a group or listed winner please contact me. We will have got most but sometimes the odd one is missed. Further information of this event will be available in the near future.
In conjunction with the Hawke's Bay Racehorse Owners' Association, the Breeders are running a raffle the prize being a service to Jimmy Choux.
Richard and Liz Wood, the owners of Jimmy Choux, have generously donated a service to the stallion for the 2014 season. In addition, $1000 of agistment has been given by Richhill Stud who stand the Jimmy Choux. For anyone interested in breeding, this is a magnificent prize and I am sure that if anyone is with out a mare one will be readily available.
Tickets are limited to 600 @ $20 each or a book of six for $100. Drawn mid August.
Jimmy Choux's first crop foals have drawn very favourable comment from those that have seen them and sold well at the recent National sale.
Tickets will be available from committee members of both organizations.
