The latest addition to the Waikato Stud stallion roster is a wish come true for the Matamata farm.
"We've always wanted to stand O'Reilly's best son and this season we will be doing so with the brilliant four time Group One winner Sacred Falls," principal Mark Chittick said.
"We identified Sacred Falls early in his career and it has been hugely exciting to have subsequently been a part of his two Doncasters and George Main successes with co-owner Dato Yap and the Raffles Racing team."
Sacred Falls left New Zealand as the unbeaten winner of six races, including the Gr.1 NZ 2000 Guineas, under the guidance of Tony Pike and his then training partner Mark Donoghue.
He subsequently raced his way into Australia's history books as the first colt in over 50 years to record back-to-back wins in the Doncaster Mile for champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller.
Sacred Falls backed up a week after his second triumph in the Randwick mile to finish runner-up in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The entire registered the fourth Group One win of his career in the George Main Stakes, confirming his position as Australia's leading miler and the highest rated horse in Australia on the official handicaps at that time.
"With nine career wins from 1000m-1600m generating $A4.7 million dollars in earnings, he would surely rate as one of the highest stakes earner to retire to stud in New Zealand," Chittick said.
"He fits squarely within Waikato Stud's proven sire selection criteria of having Group One ability with an electric turn of foot," Chittick said.
To stand his first season at $30,000 + GST, Sacred Falls will arrive at Waikato Stud on Wednesday to take up residence in the box of his late father O'Reilly.
Keeping the best of company, Sacred Falls will be next door to New Zealand's leading Group One sire Savabeel.
"His success worldwide is so important for the New Zealand industry and fortunately, he is doing exactly what all the elite sires do and consistently achieving the results at the highest level," Chittick said.
At $100,000 + GST, Savabeel is the only stallion on Waikato Stud's roster to have had a service fee change in 2015.
Five time Group One winner Ocean Park will remain at $30,000 + GST; two time Champion Hong Kong sire Pins will stand at $25,000 + GST; Fastnet Rock's Group One winning son Rock 'n' Pop, enters his third season at $9000 + GST; No Excuse Needed is at $6000 + GST and Rios will be available at $4000 + GST.
