In this month's edition of BetaVet's Under The Radar, and leading into the busy sales season, we thought it was the perfect time to reintroduce BetaVet's National Sales Manager Kylie Unsworth. If you would like to have a chat with Kylie in regard to any of BetaVet's products, you can contact her on 022 078 4958 or sales@betavet.co.nz.
Explain who BetaVet is, what they produce and what they stand for?
BetaVet is a NZ owned and operated company established 16 years ago and is one of the only full therapeutic equine herbal range's specialising in supplements for horses. We are a very dedicated team with a solid understanding of the supplement requirements of Race, Performance and Yearlings to optimise health, performance and recovery. We know that effective herbal medicine starts with the best raw materials, so we carefully source only the highest quality ingredients for our formulations and are passionate about delivering trusted quality in every product we create. Our range is carefully crafted with care and precision in our state of the art manufacturing facility in Christchurch and we’re deeply committed to ensuring that every formulation is not only consistent and effective, but really makes a positive impact on the horse’s performance and well-being.
Explain your role at BetaVet and how long you have been there?
My role within BetaVet is National Sales Manager and have been part of the team for about 6 years now. I am based in Cambridge which is perfect for me with the Waikato being such a huge equine hub.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
It’s all about the horses and the people for me! I truly enjoy building strong relationships with my clients and providing ongoing support. Being a passionate horse person myself, I love heading onfarm, seeing the horses and facilities and following their journey all the way from the prep to the sales to the races. That’s partly why I offer personal consultations and on-farm visits, where I can discuss the unique needs of each horse and tailor our approach to help them thrive. What’s more, all of our products are 100% natural, which means they can easily complement any prep or feeding program and this is something I’m personally really proud of! I love knowing that we are helping to support the success of our clients and their horses, you’ll often find me at the races, cheering on our BetaVet-supplemented horses across the line! Really since joining BetaVet, I’ve developed a passion for racing - both gallops and harness. Coming from a sporthorse background, the racing world was once unfamiliar to me, but I’ve really enjoyed diving into the industry and getting involved. As a company, we have a special connection to the racing world, with a majority share in a Standardbred pacer trained by Arna Donnelly "Beta Prepare". He has had a few wins in his last couple of starts and races in our own colours so I couldn't be prouder for BetaVet to have some skin in the game.
What do you enjoy about the thoroughbred breeding industry?
Again its the people I get to meet and learn more about the industry from. Each and every person plays such an integral role in the entire journey, and it’s something I really value. From the breeders who lay the foundations to the dedicated stable staff who work behind the scenes. The sales preparer's, the vets, the farriers, the physios, the truck drivers - they all make a difference. It’s these people, each with their own unique part to play, who bring everything together and make the whole process work and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this with my role at BetaVet.
Why did BetaVet become a sponsor of the NZTBA and why is it important to them?
We wanted form a partnership with the NZTBA and come onboard as as sponsor as we believe that BetaVet is a perfect fit given the fact that both parties share a deep passion for the health and well-being of Thoroughbred horses. At BetaVet we pride ourselves on offering something a little more personal. We don’t want to just provide supplements, we want to build lasting relationships with our clients and the industry.
