Little Avondale’s young shuttle stallion Time Test recorded his first stakes winner at Newbury on Friday when Tardis powered home in the Listed St Hugh's Stakes (1050m) for trainer Michael Bell under the urgings of Oisin Murphy.
The two-year-old filly is on a steep upward curve, having broken her maiden decisively at Bath last month following two placed efforts previously.
She is the first foal out of Twizzell, a daughter of Equiano who won twice over 1000m
Tardis' Newbury success marked an important chapter in her sire's burgeoning career, with the Juddmonte-bred son of Dubawi already the sire of four individual winners, with seven wins overall, while he has already sired Group Three placegetter The King's Horses.
Bred in the purple, Time Test is out of Passage Of Time, a Group One-winning daughter of Dansili and a half-sister to Gr.1 Falmouth Stakes (1600m) heroine Timepiece.
A high-class performer on the track, Time Test was a multiple Group Two winner and Group One placed in the UK for Roger Charlton, while he also placed in two Grade Ones for Chad Brown in America.
On the back of covering 116 mares in each of his first two seasons at Little Avondale in Masterton, Time Test covered 135 mares in his third season at stud, an endorsement of the high regard his early progeny, which have just turned two in New Zealand, are held.
Time Test will stand for $8,500 +GST in season 2021. -NZ Racing Desk
